The 2012 Atlanta Autumn Tichu League will consist of eight sessions of play, held on consecutive Monday nights beginning October 15 and ending December 3.

The entry fee is $10 per player.

The grand prize is one $50 Secrets Factory gift certificate for each member of the winning team.

The league will be structured as a round-robin tournament with bracketed playoffs. During the first five weeks, each team will play one game against each other team. After the fifth week, the teams with the three best records will be placed into the Dragon Bracket, with the remaining teams placed into the Phoenix Bracket. During the last three weeks, each team will play the two other teams in their bracket as well as one game against a team from the other bracket. The team from the Dragon Bracket with the best record will be the league champion. Ties for wins and losses will be broken by point differential over the entire eight weeks.

A team consists of two players, both of whom have registered for the league and paid an entry fee. A player may only be member of one team.

In the event that one team member cannot be present for a weekly game, a substitute player may be designated. Once a substitute begins play, the replaced player may not participate in any games during that week's league session. Both members of a team cannot be replaced by substitutes during the same league session. A registered league participant may not serve as a substitute for another team.

Games will be played in accordance with the rules of Tichu Nanking (4 players) and FAQ as published on the Rio Grande website with the following exceptions:
- Failure to fulfill a wish when possible will result in the opposing team gaining 100 points
- Bombs must be announced verbally when played out of turn, and only revealed once the entire table acknowledges that no conflict exists between two players attempting to play bombs simultaneously
- Cards may be dealt rather than taken
- Play in clockwise order
- Any exchange of information between teammates about their cards that does not arise from the normal course of the game is forbidden.

Any team that does not begin play before 7:00 PM shall forfeit the session's match. If a match cannot be completed before the competition venue closes, the team in the lead shall be designated winner. Slow play with the intent of causing the match to fail to complete will be deemed unsportsmanlike conduct and will result in the offending team forfeiting the session's match.
